Sammy's Oatmeal Stout
Our take on a very famous oatmeal stout, Samuel Smiths. Roasted caramel, coffee aroma and flavor to follow. Not over bearing, just a smooth, easy drinking stout that anyone will find appealing. I starting brewing this to try to make a clone and ended up with this final recipe that I actually like a bit better than the origional. This is best left to sit in primary or secondary for 45-60 days to get the full flavor and creaminess.
Available in an all grain or extract version, both come in right under 5% ABV.
Extract version is made with DME and steeping grains. Steeping grains are packed in a muslin grain bag perfect for steeping. 5.5 gallon recipe.
All grain recipe is based on a 5.5 gallon recipe at 70% efficiency.
Both recipes come with detailed instructions which may or may not need adjusting to you own brewing style. Try this and I think you will love it!
